THE POWER OF COLOUR AND LIGHT
The refract of light creates
a pallet to colours.
Every colour has its specific irradiation and functioning. For this reason
a painting or object is not only an image, but it has also an interaction
with the space around.
An example of this is the mural
painting, "The rainbowsnake" in the Spuistraat in Amsterdam. This mural-painting
sparkles of colour and has mainly a warm yellow irradiation.
The occupants of opposite houses are very enthusiastic.
They told that because of this mural, they now get more "sunlight" in their
houses.
It is a challenge for Patries van Elsen to look at every location which colours must be used, so that that spot comes optimally to its rights in relation with the surroundings.
